Artsy is an industry leading platform to sell artwork online but is there a way for independent artists to showcase their artworks?

The traditional method to selling your own artworks on Artsy is to start your own gallery or collective that represents 2+ artists. In order to host your own gallery Artsy charges about $450+ a month and takes around 15% commission on each sale along with paying out through Stripe who takes around 5%. However, with Artsy being the industry standard for successful fine artist there are other methods of showcasing your works without owning your own business. Artsy offers an art consignment so that if you are already an established artist you can sell your works through the consignment process.

However, most of you are here because you are probably not as prominent as an artist such as Picasso so what can you do to sell your artwork on Artsy?

One rising art group named “Thesis Art Collective” offers a solution for independent artists to sell their works on Artsy. Thesis has monthly shows on the platform. These shows are free to submit to and free to be in and Thesis takes 25% of all sales. The 25% is broken down below.

Artsy 15%

Stripes 5%

Thesis 5%

If you are interested in staying on Artsy for more than a month Thesis also offers a $500/yr subscription plan for independent artist. This $500/yr is $4,900 less a year than hosting your own gallery on Artsy.

Now the strings! Thesis does not accept all art submissions for monthly shows or the annual subscription. The artwork that is accepted is desired to be the highest quality obtainable. Thesis is still a small collective and is actively looking for more artists to share the cost of hosting on Artsy. You can submit your artworks for the free monthly shows here.
